One Desire Fast is HMCC’s annual fast so we can start off the year hearing from God, both individually and as a church. This year’s theme is Locked In.
As we continue our fast, first and foremost, we want to grow in the Word. It’s essential to recognize the importance of God’s Word as our foundation, and fasting provides a crucial opportunity to feast on Scripture, enabling us to draw strength and wisdom from it. Let the Word inspire you and fill you up as you are emptying yourself and making room for God through this fast!
By temporarily setting aside physical nourishment or other distractions, we actively hunger for spiritual nourishment. As Jesus declared, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Fasting creates a sacred appetite for His presence, making our longing like the deer panting for streams of water in Psalm 42:1-2. Let the Word inspire you and fill you up as you are emptying yourself and making room for God through this fast!
A wonderful passage to study about God’s Word during this time is Psalm 119, which beautifully illustrates the power and benefits of immersing ourselves in God’s Word. This Psalm emphasizes how Scripture transforms our lives, offering joy, guidance, and hope.
