One Desire Fast is HMCC’s annual fast so we can start off the year hearing from God, both individually and as a church. This year’s theme is Locked In.
Welcome to the first day of our One Desire Fast! We are excited to journey together over these 20 days! This year’s ODF theme, “Locked In,” is inspired by the Gen Z idea of being completely focused on a task. To kick off the year 2026 strong with God as our one desire, let’s commit to being “locked in” with Jesus. Let’s unite as a church to foster a deeper intimacy with God and a growing dependence on Him through prayer and fasting.
Fasting can be challenging, and this year may feel particularly stretching as it’s our first time doing it for three weeks as a church. We also recognize that many in our community are new to One Desire Fast, so it’s crucial to approach this with both excitement and realism. Be sure to create a fasting plan! It will help us stay locked in on what we intend to fast for, what we will fast from, and what we will focus on feasting upon.
As our church experiences significant growth, this fast offers a great opportunity to connect more deeply with one another. It’s a time to learn together and support each other on our faith journey while strengthening our community and seeking a closer relationship with God. Here at our HMCC, we believe that each and every single person should engage in these 5Gs to experience life transformation, mature as a disciple, and impact the world for Christ. That everything we do is rooted in the gospel, as we gather together, grow in our faith, learn how to give, go and make disciples, and see generations of Christ’s followers.
During this fast, you can expect to experience a range of emotions and revelations. It’s an opportunity to draw closer to God, seek His guidance, and reflect on your relationship with Him. We encourage you to intentionally spend time with God, focusing on spiritual feasting rather than what you’re abstaining from.
Don’t forget that we are in this together as a community! Use this time to build relationships, share insights, and support one another as we seek to know God more deeply. Let’s embrace the journey ahead with open hearts, ready to discover the transformative power of being “locked in” with Jesus.

- Pray and ask God to help you stay “locked in” by removing distractions and providing clarity.
- Pray for people who are newer to fasting or have never fasted before to be willing and ready to fast with the rest of the church
